Day 1: Entebbe arrival.
Days 2–3: Murchison Falls — game drives, Nile boat, optional shoebill delta cruise. Park entry US$45/day.
Day 4: Drive south via Ziwa rhino (optional) or direct to Kibale.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trek Kibale (morning) + Bigodi Wetland walk (afternoon).
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth — Kazinga Channel cruise, Ishasha tree-climbing lions if route allows.
Days 7–8: Bwindi gorilla trek + recovery day or community walk.
Day 9: Drive to Entebbe or Lake Mburo en route.

Chimp Location: Why Kibale First
Kibale Forest offers encounter rates above 90% in peak season, multiple daily departure groups, and the habituation experience option. Budongo and Kyambura suit travellers already at Murchison or Queen Elizabeth but accept lower success probability or shorter encounters. For a dedicated gorilla-chimp safari, Kibale is the default chimp address.
Gorilla Sector Selection
Bwindi’s four sectors — Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo — are geographically separate. Your permit determines sector; lodges must match. Rushaga offers habituation experiences; Buhoma has the widest lodge choice; Nkuringo has dramatic views and steep treks. Mgahinga is an alternative with one gorilla family and golden monkey add-on.
Book permits before lodges — permit availability drives the itinerary, not vice versa.
Physical Pacing
Do not schedule gorilla and chimp treks on consecutive days unless you are fit. Both involve early starts, 1–5 hours forest walking, and muddy slopes. Ideal spacing: chimp day, one savannah or travel day, gorilla day. Recovery day after gorilla trekking is wise — legs will thank you.
Health and Rules

Transport Options Between Primate Parks
Road transfer Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi (Ishasha route through southern sector) takes 6–8 hours with game drive potential en route — the scenic option. Fort Portal–Kibale to Bwindi via Queen Elizabeth northern route is similar. Charter Kasese to Kihihi saves a full day when budgets allow (roughly US$350–500 per person shared charter).
Public transport is not recommended for primate circuits — timing, permit reliability and luggage security favour private 4×4 with driver-guide. Self-drive is possible for experienced Africa travellers but gorilla trek mornings require pre-dawn departures from sector-matched lodges — logistically difficult without local knowledge.
