Each day below shows where you go, what you experience, and where you can stay—luxury, mid-range, and budget lodge options included.

  1. 3 days murchison falls safari – big five buffalo

    Day 1

Kampala/Entebbe – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park

Your safari begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport by your professional English-speaking safari guide. After a short briefing about the journey ahead, depart Kampala and head northwest towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest and oldest conservation area. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours excluding stops and passes through picturesque countryside dotted with traditional villages, lush farmland, tea plantations, and local markets, offering an excellent introduction to rural Uganda.

Your first major stop is at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where white rhinos roam freely in their natural habitat. Accompanied by experienced rangers, embark on an exciting guided rhino tracking experience on foot. Walking quietly through the bush while approaching these magnificent giants provides one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in Uganda. During the walk, you may also encounter bushbucks, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, monkeys, numerous bird species, and other wildlife that inhabit the sanctuary.

Following rhino tracking, continue your journey with an optional lunch stop at Kabalega Diner, one of the country's most popular highway restaurants.

After lunch, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park through the southern entrance. Depending on your arrival time, you may visit the spectacular Top of Murchison Falls before checking into your lodge. Here, the mighty River Nile is squeezed through a narrow 7-metre-wide gorge before plunging approximately 43 metres below, creating one of Africa's most powerful waterfalls. Feel the mist on your face while listening to the thunderous roar as millions of litres of water crash through the narrow gap every second. The viewpoints offer spectacular photography opportunities and unforgettable scenery.

Continue to your selected lodge where you will check in and enjoy the remainder of the evening relaxing while taking in the beautiful surroundings. Many lodges are frequented by warthogs, monkeys, antelopes and numerous bird species, allowing wildlife viewing even from the comfort of your accommodation.

  2. 3 days murchison falls safari – big five buffalo

    Day 2

Early Morning Game Drive – Nile Boat Cruise – Top of the Falls Hike

Wake before sunrise for an early breakfast before setting off on the northern bank for an unforgettable morning game drive across the famous Buligi Peninsula, one of Uganda's finest wildlife viewing areas. Early morning is the best time to observe predators before temperatures rise, making this the perfect opportunity to search for lions resting after a night's hunt, elusive leopards returning from nocturnal activities, spotted hyenas, elephants, Rothschild's giraffes, buffaloes, Jackson's hartebeests, Uganda kobs, oribis, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs and numerous bird species.

Your experienced guide will drive through different tracks while interpreting animal behaviour, ecosystems, birdlife and the conservation history of Murchison Falls National Park. Every game drive is unique, and wildlife sightings vary according to season and animal movements.

Return to your lodge for a late breakfast or relaxation before heading to Paraa Jetty for one of Africa's most scenic wildlife boat cruises.

The afternoon Victoria Nile Boat Cruise travels upstream towards the base of the magnificent Murchison Falls. Along the way, you will encounter enormous pods of hippos, some of Africa's largest Nile crocodiles basking along the riverbanks, elephants drinking from the river, buffaloes cooling off in the water, waterbucks, bushbucks and countless bird species including African fish eagles, pied kingfishers, bee-eaters, cormorants, herons, saddle-billed storks and, with a little luck, the prehistoric shoebill.

The boat stops near the base of the falls, where adventurous visitors can disembark and hike approximately 45–60 minutes to the top of the falls. This rewarding hike offers spectacular views from several viewpoints while witnessing the immense power of the Nile as it crashes through the narrow gorge. Those who prefer not to hike can remain on the boat and return to Paraa.

After the excursion, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

  3. 3 days murchison falls safari – big five buffalo

    Day 3

Morning Game Drive or Optional Chimpanzee Trekking – Return to Kampala/Entebbe

Enjoy an early breakfast before choosing between a final game drive in search of any wildlife you may have missed or an optional chimpanzee trekking adventure in nearby Budongo Forest Reserve (additional permit required).

If choosing the game drive, explore different sectors of the park while enjoying another opportunity to photograph elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, antelopes and the beautiful landscapes of Uganda's largest national park in the soft morning light.

Alternatively, head to Budongo Forest, one of East Africa's largest mahogany forests and home to a habituated community of wild chimpanzees. Accompanied by expert Uganda Wildlife Authority guides, venture deep into the forest in search of these fascinating primates while learning about their behaviour, communication, feeding habits and forest ecology. Besides chimpanzees, Budongo is rich in birdlife and hosts numerous monkey species.

Following your chosen activity, begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, stop for lunch and refreshments before continuing through Uganda's scenic countryside. Your guide will transfer you to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport, marking the end of an unforgettable three-day safari filled with exceptional wildlife encounters, breathtaking scenery, and memorable experiences.
