Each launch carries up to 45 passengers, with departures from Paraa typically around 09:00 and 14:00 — tight on peak-season weekends, but often available with a day’s notice in shoulder months.

Fastest Ways to Reach Murchison on Short Notice
Most departures start from Kampala or Entebbe. The southern approach runs roughly 305 kilometres and five to six hours to Paraa via Masindi and Kichumbanyobo Gate, then another 85 kilometres through Budongo Forest to the Nile. Season and Availability
The dry windows — roughly December to February and June to September — draw the highest visitor numbers. Riverside lodges at Paraa, Pakuba and Chobe fill first. In July or over Christmas–New Year, treat “last minute” as one to two weeks rather than 48 hours.
